Active Directory - Configuring NTP

C:\Users\Administrator>netdom query PDC
Primary domain controller for the domain:

DC1.domain.local
The command completed successfully.

C:\Users\Administrator>hostname
DC1.domain.local

C:\Users\Administrator>w32tm /query /configuration
[Configuration]
Type: NT5DS (Local)
NtpServer (Local)

C:\Users\Administrator>w32tm /config /manualpeerlist:time.windows.com /syncfromflags:manual /update
The command completed successfully.

C:\Users\Administrator>w32tm /query /configuration
[Configuration]
Type: NTP (Local)
NtpServer: time.windows.com (Local)


(Aslo can be useful for older OS - Net time /querysntp)

C:\Users\Administrator>w32tm /resync
Sending resync command to local computer
The command completed successfully.


C:\Users\Administrator>w32tm /resync /rediscover
Sending resync command to local computer
The command completed successfully.


Determine NTP source C:\Users\Administrator>w32tm /query /source
DC1.domain.local

Restore Windows Time service to default settings:
net stop w32time
w32tm /unregister
w32tm /register
net start w32time


Restarting NTP service:
C:\Users\Administrator>net stop w32time && net start w32time


For Windows Server 2003:
reg query HKLM\SYSTEM\CurrentControlSet\Services\W32Time\Parameters
Parameters\NtpServer
Make sure that type Nt5DS is configured on all Windows Server 2003 domain controllers if they exist in the AD.
